Don, my friend, I have so many delayed things on preorder (from others and not from Weaver) that I had to check with my dealer last week just to see what was still on the "active list" and what I can stop waiting for.

I did order an RS diesel from Weaver about a week or so ago, and it arrived in just a few days.

I feel your pain brother. I too ordered the RPO and the Baggage car. The fact that they haven't canceled it gives me hope. I don't mined the delays on items and in fact I gotten pretty used to them. This one however is way out there. It's a good thing the ribbed sided cars are just around the corner. That will keep my Milwaukee Road addiction at bay for a while.

Are you talking about the Weaver Milwaukee Road boxcars? I have 4 on order myself. I do hope that they really do have a Fall arrival time as Weaver says on their website. I know that everyone of us is either waiting or had been waiting a long time for a product to arrive. Maybe if they were built in the USA we would get them more quickly. The price would be higher but our blood pressure would be lower! Paul

don, when I was up to weaver over the summer, I asked gary about getting some 2 rail trucks for my rpo and baggage. gary said they were out of stock on the 2 rail trucks but he did say that they were working on having more rpo and baggage cars made with their new supplier. we had our visit in late june, so these cars may be being built now. gary said about november/december for the 2 rail trucks if everything goes well the new supplier.

AGAIN this was back in june, so I have not called weaver since we were there.

Don:  As I'm sure you are aware, recent developments in the Orient have left our suppliers with a mess.  Sanda Kan was the primary manufacturer for many of these suppliers and, due to their parent company's acquisition of Williams and other changes, they decided to sever their production arrangements with most of the other well known names.  This change, of course, not only forced these suppliers to seek other manufacturers but also put a real strain on the remaining suppliers causing delays and rescheduling.

Just had a conversation with Joe Hayter regarding those very cars, and he said that they are still very much in line for production, as soon as they can be scheduled.  I still don't know just  when that will be but my guess is to expect them sometime in 2013.  Hopefully I can learn a bit more about these and some other cars before our York meetings.  I can also tell you that the Milwaukee Road rib-side boxcars, which also have been delayed even though they are being built here in the USA, should be ready before the end of this year.

I think it took 3 years for Lionel's CA-4 cabooses to ship. Cataloged in 2006 Volume 2; delivered to me late 2009. I had long forgotten I even ordered it at that point and was confused when the package from Trainworld suddenly showed up. Even when I pulled the caboose out it still took a few seconds to register. Ridiculous yes, but I guess that just happens from time to time.

We seem to be a much more patient bunch than the tech crowd. A software upgrade for my smartphone that was promised for August is a month late now, and there has been an uproar among owners. The poo that's getting hurled at the company's Facebook page ranges from people vowing to never buy their products again to actually filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Good thing these people aren't into trains......
