I just bought a k line Lackawanna caboose . It has a switch on the bottom for TMCC or conventional control. Do any of you know what this switch does? It has a clear plastic piece attached with a screw that locks it into the TMMC side of the switch.  It seem like a great caboose with full interior and smoke, scale size. It is new to me. Fred

When on TMCC selection,it cuts the voltage to the smoke unit,I think by half waving it with a diode or putting a resistor in series. Either method will work. Early K-line cabooses without this switch had smoke units melt the shell plastic in command mode because of over voltage. 18 or 20 volts is too much.  If you have an older caboose without this that has a smoke unit and you run command it is a good idea to install protection to the smoke unit. The lighting is also too bright to some tastes and should be cut also.
