Hello all

I have one of the older weaker track signal TIU units and recently got my trains up and running for the season and am finding that I have to push the buttons on my remotes a lot and often multiple times and for longer periods to get the engines to take the commands.

Btw have two remotes and both have new batteries and they both behave the same, as do the trains no matter where they are to the signal connection or which train it is. Track is spotless and so are the trains connections such as rollers and things like that.

Basically think it really is most to do with items in the path of the signal and other such interference as effect is varied on where in the room I am and what it is that is in the way.

So was just wondering if the new TIU which I know has a stronger track signal has any thing better then my current one to the remote?

Actually would think its the remote that is producing the signal so I guess I'm asking if the new TIU is any better at receiving it?

Thanks for any help.

There's a good chance that, due to handling every holiday season, the transceiver board in the TIU and/or remote has lifted partially out of its socket. Connect the remote to the TIU's Remote Input port with a 4-conductor telephone handset (curly) cable. If problems go away, reseat the transceiver boards as described in your copy of The DCS O Gauge Companion (either edition). This and a whole lot more is all in The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition, available as either an eBook or a print book from MTH's web store.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies,

@rep56: Actually I have no scenery, this is a living room layout on the floor on the perimeter of the room. There is a TV in the room and DVD player & cable box, but wouldn't say they are near the TIU or are in the path. As well none of my furniture is metal.

@ Barry, thanks will look into this via the phone cord, but guess I should have described that this layout is out all year round and is/was just the way it has always been for years. Might say the remotes have been handled but kinda wonder that boards have been dislodged in both.

Basically as its been a while I might even say the way it is has always been this way but little hard to remember as its been so long.

So will try it with the cord and will look inside at the remotes too, but in the end though, am still wondering if the new TIU has anything like I asked?

Thanks
