I like the idea of the overall design but if you're gonna do it then do it right.

Maybe skip the time on weathering and dusting and get the overall shape of the tower and dome correct.

PEOPLE, this is a breadboard sample! not a production version. my goodness. how about giving us a chance. we are working on getting this entire plant on a 15x24 inch base. we are also making available a second cooling tower for seperate sale. nobody has seen this thing operate or heard the sounds. it will blow you away. also not all the details have been added including the railroad car.

i honestly believe the finished product will far exceed your expectations.

thanks

Dawg, I believe Lionel is responsible for making this fine reactor set.  Oh, my five year old grand daughter figured IRA NEEHAN.......WILBLO YERAZEZOV in about 2 minutes.

I like it and think they did a great job.  If they made 1/48 scale cooling towers the thing would be huge.  It looks to me like the same sort of selective compression that Lionel postwar and starter set stuff is famous for and that I am a fan of.

I just hope current events remain in a state that we can laugh at the joke on the building.

BTW Was the TMI car made by Lionel or was it Lionel parts lettered by some one else?  I see the West Virgina and Distributed by  markings on the bottoms of the cars in the article.

I remember getting my car from TCA and believe they were made and lettered at the Lionel plant in Michigan.

Steve,

I'm not sure that the TMI boxcar is a Lionel painted car.  TMI threads seem to come up every six months or so, whenever, a car is for sale on ebay.  Other folks have said that upon close examination, they can see the remants of the original lettering underneath the car.  I would have to think that if Lionel was going to make a custom run of any car, they would have likely started with an unpainted car.

The general consensus in the past was that the TMI boxcar was produced by Newbraugh Brothers Toys (NBT). The printing was done by Pleasant Valley Process. Lots of TMI boxcars were made. In addition, NBT made TMI train sets consisting of a diesel electric locomotive, the box car and other cars all marked TMI.

Thanks Jim, from what I have found out there is also a Lionel HO box car and an 027 TMI tank car painted red with radiation symbols at each end.  I have not found anything on the set you mentioned.  I sure would like to see one of those.

I believe this great LCCA accessory will open up a whole new area for Lionel and others to produce new engines and rolling stock to enhance its operation.  There will also be a greater demand for obtaining the radioactive waste car and other AEC items already made.

Lou,

Nice job on the nuke plant. I think you captured the idea in a very small space to make it marketable to many. I built one nuke plant for a guy in Ct. It had two colling towers and a fuel rod storage area. It took up a space at least 24" x 48'. The hardest thing to construct was the cooling tower. I actually had a guy that owned a lathe shape them for me. I used one inch thick foam board glued together and then painted the foam board with latex paint.

Alan Graziano

Left harry hieke's today. Had more work done to the nuke plant. The cooling tower has a fan with 4 smoke units but it still looks like vapor. All thre red flashing lights and alarms sounds are added and mounted. There is a rail siding in which i placed a plutonioum car, radio waste car and uranium car. it is lightly weathered . We have added concrete baricades, cyclone fences and more. Guess what! it fits in a 15x24 space. Oh we installed a rotary beacon in the operations building that spins red when the alarm goes off.

Heck you ain't seen nothen yet! These will be very limited. Be prepared your going to see many new products like this. i'm assuming LIONEL will be making additional items to enhance our products. i see this as a three way win, us train guy's the LCCA and THE BIG L.

BY THE WAY WE WILL BE SELLING ADDITIONAL COOLING TOWERS!

THANKS

LOUIE
