Legacy Base won't update to 1.6

I'm using a black module I created using the Windows software. Upon updating, it flashes the yellow light quickly for a few moments, then changes to 6 blinks repeatedly. The directions say this means “Verify fail after program”. I tried again multiple times, rewriting the module each time. I also tried 1.54 update. All the same result.

Does anyone have experience with this? I sent an email to Lionel, but no reply in over two weeks.

Have you tried remaking the base module to a different black module?  I have had a bad module.

Sorry you haven't had a response. Email and phones are a bit behind right now coming off the holidays.

It does sound like a bad black module to me.

Hi Marty, I remade it several times using the same module. I only have the one, which I just bought NIB. I used the same module to update the CAB2.

I could buy a second module (at 18+shipping) if we really think that's the issue -- much preferable to getting a new base and/or having it serviced.

I emailed "talktous" assuming this wasn't a warranty issue, since I've had this legacy equipment for many years, this is just the first time I happen to be updating the firmware. Now my base and cab aren't at the same version, which makes me nervous  

I had a similar problem a few years ago Don't remember the number of blinks, but base would not load update. Tried 2 different black modules, re-downloaded the update, reloaded module, etc. Both modules would update the remote just fine. Even tried suggestions from tech support over the phone. It ended up going back to Lionel, they fixed it up and it's been working fine since.

I'd try another black module first, but it could be what Tom suggests.  The fact multiple updates fail does suggest the base may have a problem.

welp, legacy station was nice enough to send me a second one, it failed in the same way. Even trying to use the blue ones that came with the base fails in the same way. 

Looks like something is wrong with the base for sure.
