Hi Guys,

Im really interested in the new Pennsy FM in the new catalog. I have looked in my PRR books and on youtube and I cant find any pictures other than a stock delivery photo and no videos of them. Where were they used and in what kind of service? I know the Jersey Central, Reading and Lackawanna used them in passenger service, did the PRR? The PRR bought engines for certain tasks in certain places, it seems to me, Im wondering where they were  used.. Thanks!

Which FM? The Train Master?

They were used on the west slope as pushers. There were ONLY 9 Trainmaster locos ordered.

Looking at the photos, if you are a stickler for detail, Lionel has taken the demo model of the Trainmaster and added all the other railroad paint schemes. The demo model was unique to the gym demos TM1-TM4 and two of them were sold to the Wabash.

The PRR units are different most noticably in the headlights. On the long hood the PRR had one headlight. On the Short Hood, the PRR had the headlight in the lower position as the upper position was used to mount the coil for the Trainphone antenna.

MTH Premier units did this loco perfect!

Cincytrains,

The Penny Train Master does have the trainphone antennas you need to enlarge the picture and look close as they are hard to see as they blend into the roof on the catalog picture.

PRRHORSESHOECURVE,

The Pennsy Train Master does have a single headlight on the long hood end. Cannot see the short end but I am assuming it has a single light as well. These are on pages 64/65. Also not all of the Train Master on pages 56/57 have double headlights. Don’t know if they are all prototypical as I am not an expert but since Lionel made the effort to make them different hopefully they made them correctly.
