I have a LC+ CP Rail GP-38. I tested it and it worked fine, then sent it to my son. I just got off the phone with him. He put it on his FasTrack layout and, although the engine switch is set to remote, when he turns the remote speed control wheel even a small amount, the engine just takes off. It also goes dead in several places on the layout. However, his little conventional Lionel handcar chugs around the layout without any problems, so it appears that track conductivity is fine.

All the sounds on the GP38 engine work fine using the remote. Also, when the engine switch is set to "transformer," the engine doesn't work at all. When running the GP38, he's using a small conventional Lionel transformer with the lever turned just short of full on . I am using the same setup on a small Christmas layout with LC+ engines and they work fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions at to what might be causing this odd behavior with the GP38?
