I have a new Lionel 2-10-4 and have been running it on 0-72 track and it is constantly throwing both traction tires.  Both the set that are on it out of the box and the replacement set.  It wobbles like a drunken sailor because of it.  It seems to me they might be a little bit loose.  Is there a better option than the tires from the Lionel parts store? Any reason that it would be throwing the tires on the recommended 0-72 track?

Thanks

Ben

Traction tires can deteriorate and/or stretch over time and be thrown off the wheel under load and especially on a curve. Also some of Lionel’s recent steamer tires have been bad out of the box (VL Niagara for example). A guide to suitable replacements has been published a number of times on the Forum. I don’t have the reference to hand or I’d copy it here. New ones my be your best bet.

I’d give lionel a call on this and ask if they have had any other reported issues.   it’s been documented in the past of folks having issues with the as delivered sets of traction tires.   Causing a wobble or unbalance.   Usually this is corrected by changing them.  If your still having issues and positive your installing them properly.   Obviously further investigation is needed.  Just out of curiosity what type of track are you using.?    I have a 2-10-4 of the previous run and have had no issues with some 80-100 car trains.
