This is a minor issue, but I nonetheless am curious. This engine has all spotting details showing that it should be running short hood forward, yet when it is started up, it runs long hood forward. Anybody got a clue? Firing the front coupler, the folks inside and the tell tale "f" show it to be short hood forward. It's not a biggie, but it's a puzzler. Thanks.

Wires must be plugged in reverse. Mine starts short hood forward.
Forgive me if I'm being dense, but wouldn't the plug be keyed. In other words, the plug for the (motor wires, I'm guessing) is on backwards? It lights correctly, that is, the lights for the long hood come on while firing the front coupler fires the short hood coupler. I just didn't think it could be that simple, lol.
Cheryl it could be keyed but I still think the wires are reversed if that's the only problem.
I popped the hood and the only thing easily changed are the leads soldered to the motor ears. I can live with it like it is, lol. Not in a soldering mood. Will be bringing it Saturday.
Got it new.
Hi Cheryl,
Cannot wait for this Saturdays meet...
You can change the direction of you new locomotive in the lash-up screen. I do not have my directions handy but we can assign it a direction you prefer in the lash-up screen and it will retain that direction when you address it for future use. Bring it this weekend and we can set it straight.
Three cheers for john. With all the nonsense posted on these pages, I wonder why nobody else jumped in to help.
