At York I purchased the 8 car set of PRR aluminum passenger cars (circa 1979). They have die cast truck frames, fast angle wheels, and coupler mounting plates that are attached to the axles. Should these be lubricated with oil or grease? (or both, depending on the part that needs to be lubed?)

Using a needle tip applicator, I apply just a dab of light oil applied to the friction points and and the sides of the contact rollers. This has worked for me for years. In my experience, I've found MPC's aluminum cars to roll quite nicely.
Good luck and congratulations on your purchase of the PRR set.

Bob,
Thank you very much. I will follow your guidelines.Yes, this is a fine set and looks good on the layout.
Sure. I paid $550. Asking was $650. It was Saturday, about 10 minutes to closing, and the dealer probably did not want to pack them up. He had purchased them from a collection. They are new and never run.
Thanks for sharing. I paid $850 on August 21, 1986, in case anyone wants to calculate the return for preserving merchandise new in the box for 27 years.
May as well get mine on the track, then
