Right out of the sealed box, although my Lionel Century Club PRR S-2 Turbine runs like a swiss watch..unfortunately, as soon as I apply power to the track, even before the S-2 Turbine starts, I hear what sounds like a smoke unit whirring.

Then, when I start up the engine and run it, I do not see smoke issuing from its smoke stack...instead it is coming out of the bottom and sides.

Looks really cool, especially the way it settles like a fog between the rails, but I do not believe it is supposed to do that.

It also keeps oozing smoke, for about 30 seconds and then slowly disapates after powering off the engine and track.

Odd...I looked in it and did not see anything.

I hope that it is smoke fluid making the smoke and not some sort of electrical wire insulation burning.

The odor would be a dead giveaway.  I don't believe anyone has come out with a "Burnt Electrical" scent.

Yep, that was it!

Thanks guys!

Man this little engine is a great runner!

I wish it was a little bit bigger though, as the tender looks too big for it.

ok, next question, how the heck do you turn the smoke unit on and off with a Legacy handheld?

There are no symbols for smoke.

The fan will NOT shut off. Just the heating element.

Correct TMCC mode, pressing the number keys causes the ENG ID to change.

You have to "fully address" the locomotive,i.e. enter the id# and start it up.

Then you will have icons for+ on and - off.

This is the same as the 8 and 9 position which is also where the smoke on and off icons for legacy are represented when addressing a legacy loco.
