I run 072 and 054.  When my pair of powered DD35s use the 054, i notice a bit of issues with the trucks...this disappears with the 072...i took the pair to my club tha runs over 100s and they run fine.  I think that the 054s are not the way to go...I also have the MTH DD40s and they have the same issue...but love 072 and above...

The DD35 and DD40 dont run at the same speed using conventional control..but with DCS controlling both the MTH and DD35, then we get a better speed match.....not great but usable.....

when comparing the pulling power, i noticed that the dd35 pull better than the dd40s....I may need to replace the rubber tires on them...anyhow...i hope this helps..

I have the NYC DD35A and it runs fine on O-48. It will even run on O-36 without any drama, although it does look exceedingly odd doing so.

I suspect that any problems reported on sharp curves are due more to bumpy track than anything else. Even on O-48 the innermost wheels will hang out over the track, and so any bumps when they straighten up again after the curve may cause unexpected events to occur. But if your track is laid well the loco will run beautifully.

Yes, one of the threads about the recent LCCA convention mentioned it.

These two item numbers show up on the Lionel website:

6-38494 Canadian Pacific LEGACY DD35A #9864

6-38495 Canadian Pacific LEGACY DD35A #9868

Amazing that Lionel would do Faux paint schmes but NOT the 1:1 Demo scheme....

Lionel doesn't have tooling for the demo scheme. The demo set was 2 DD35 booster units between 2 GP35s.

If all these fantasy jobs make them enough money to tool up the booster at some point, then I'm all in favor of it.... because I'd love a UP booster to go with my A's.

So far they show up only in replacement parts, search DD35.

Oddly enough, those two product numbers also show up in the LionelStore.com webstore -- albeit without photo images.  Just look in the "Standard O Scale" category.  But they do NOT yet show up if you do a regular product search in lionel.com.

True....

But in my world, Norfolk Southern rescued one of the DD35A's from a scrap yard, restored it to as-new condition, and then decorated it in NYC colours as a prelude to its full heritage fleet. It now performs sterling service hauling long coal trains.
