Lionel ES44 and one more question

Legacy Berkshire? Maybe in the future. The Polar express Berkshire is listed for Dec. 2014, is that what you're referring to? Conventional and Flyer/lionel chief operation. Listed as Hi rail.  

Have a KCS ES44 on order.  Does anyone know the part number for ordering the scale wheel set?  Is it the same as part # for the SD70's that I have seen posted here on other threads?

The question was asked in the S-Scale forum so I would assume the OP was asking about S Scale.

yes, just to clarify - I am speaking about the Lionel AF ES44's due here in December.

As Lionel catalogs more S-Gauge goodies, I too have noticed an increasing number of threads on the forum whose titles are ambiguous enough to cause confusion.  Probably would be better if thread titles would refer to "Lionel AF" or "Lionel S-Gauge" as appropriate, since most folks jump in and start replying BEFORE realizing which sub-forum the thread belongs to. 

There's another thread that's been running almost a month now about 57' reefers being cancelled.   And that too was referring to S-Gauge items, but a good number of responders didn't realize that at first, as there was nothing in the thread title to indicate AF or S-Gauge specifically.  

Certainly not the end of the world, but it would help avoid confusion when posting about products Lionel offers in both O-Gauge and S-Gauge to emphasize AF or S-Gauge in the title.   Just making an observation/suggestion... since I'd bet most folks -- myself included -- don't always look at the bread-crumb path at the top of the page indicating which sub-forum the thread resides.

Should be the same part number. 

The only different part number is for the first run U33C's, which have a different gear ratio.

Thanks Rusty.  Kinda thought so but figured if I asked customer service they probably wouldn't know what I was talking about.  Going to order 2 sets today - figured since they are clearing out the last of the modern diesels with this run of the ES44's, better get'em now or never.

Rocky - I agree, many a time I have pulled-up a message and only later realized what forum the post was under.  Better to add as much info to be as clear as possible for folks.  

The idea that people posting in the S scale forum should have to put "Lionel AF" or "Lionel S-Gauge" in the topic is ridiculous and comical at best.

If a poster doesn't want egg on their face for posting in the wrong forum then perhaps they should look at what forum that topic is posted in. The ownus is on the poster.

Perhaps the forum moderators could add a column to the recent posts listing to show which forum they are posted in. But honestly, how hard is it to look?

I agree completely.  But that is not any worse than the people who answer a question with the same answer as the previous responder; or 15 previous responders.  Some even days later. 

I consider it a courtesy to others to put something like Lionel/Flyer, Flyer, S or MTH S in the subject line.

Many folks scan the New Topics sidebar looking for discussions and clicking there usually takes them to the most recent post where it may not be obvious we're talking S...

...or which may or may not be on topic...

So I don't understand this either, sorry. This is a public internet forum where everyone is free to post their opinions on topics whenever and however they like. Just because someone posts a thought first doesn't mean they own the market on that thought. Not everyone lives on this forum. Many people check in from time to time and their thoughts and opinions are no less valid than those that post everyday. That is the nature of a public internet forum. Getting upset about repeat posts, or because people don't label their posts is futile IMHO. There isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

To bring it back onto topic, have there been any test shots of the ES44 released yet? I'm curious as to whether these will be accurate for the CP or just repainted NS units. My guess is the later, but I would be happy to be wrong.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing pics of these on your layout John. How many do you have coming? Hopefully you get them in time to give yourself an early Christmas present

Given that Lionel's choked on the 57' reefers and the nature of the ES44 "limited availability," I strongly suspect the remaining ES44's will be using left over stock NS shells.

It was reported elsewhere that a UP ES44 was on display at Trainfest and the headlights were up on the cab.

UP with upper headlight? I'm through beating this dead horse. Pity, it's a road name I would have bought if the die were flexible enough to do it right.
