Lionel GP30 Step Alignment Fixed?

Yes, I know about these threads and suggested fixes of the ones with the alignment problems.  What I am asking about is whether Lionel corrected the issue in subsequent models. Thanks

I have the southern pacific version and no they did not fix the step problem. I did not preorder or buy one when they first came out because of the step issue. I would not have bought it except I found it for $220 on the bay. Plan on mixing it in with some atlas engines and hoping it will not be to noticeable.
Hope they fix it on the new runs. Took a chance with a southern this time around.

Sorry to hear that, Joe, but thanks for letting us know. It's not a huge deal but does detract from the engine's appearance in my view. 

 

This whole issue is a mystery to me since the earlier scale GP30s apparently did not have this problem.  I tried for months to get an explanation from Lionel, all to no avail.
