Currently I have a Lionel KW hooked up to my TIU, "U" connected to outside rail as per the booklet that came with the TIU.

I recently acquired a Lionel GW180 and could not find anything in the booklet, or in Barry's book, that confirms the hook up. Is "U" still used for outside rail?

Since I have a powerhouse brick that drives the controller, do I still need to have the controller hooked up to the brick? If I can by pass using the controller, how would I determine with wire from the brick goes to red and black?

Also in the box with the GW180, is a wire with a fuse in line that has the same end connection that goes into the controller. What is this cable used for?

Unfortunately, I did not get a manual with the Lionel GW180.

Thanks,

RAY

When I  looked at the TPC cable set, that I use to adapt the molex plugs on the 180 powerhouse to the TIU, it appears the metal plug in the "middle" is the positive or hot-wire and the one on the end is the common, or ground.

I say "middle" plug because while there's only 2 plugs on the connector, the one directly center of the plug is the hot one.
