Lionel Legacy SP AC-12 Cab Forward

I just received my new Legacy SP AC-12 Cab Forward and it's nice! My question is this: Lionel's catalog says it has a Flickering Firebox and variable Ashpan Glow. Mine does not seem to have this. Does anyone know if this feature is actually installed or a catalog error? If it is installed does anyone know how to turn it on or adjust the variable ashpan glow? Shure hope I didn't get bit again with another Lionel defect right out of the box, especially after going thru all the BTO preorder crap!

Technically, these were not BTO as I recall. But it's still frustrating nonetheless -- whether it's a catalog error or a glitch on your unit. Can't help you on whether the feature was implemented or not, since I have a Cab Forward Daylight version that's not due until Nov/Dec 2014.

Lots of guys have received one of the black units that shipped already, so you should have an answer soon.

Since it is an oil burner I don't think it would have an ashpan

Does the manual say anything about it?

Well duha! Should have looked at the tender ! No the manual does not mention it but it is somewhat lacking. There are no appropriate Legacy Icons on the CAB2 after installing the update either. I would still like to hear from someone who also has one of these new ones just to make sure mine is operating nominally. Other than my concern over this one item it is a really nice scale model of the Cab Forward with all the Legacy bells and whistles and runs and sounds great!
