Are Lionel shipping boxes (cartons) worth anything?  Collectors' value (for someone else...) or should I just toss them?

Commodore Vanderbilt 4-pack, and all three 2-packs, as well as some odds and ends stuff.

Anyone want them?

Thanks,

Mario

All I know is that today's shipping cartons are made MUCH cheaper than those from 10-20 years ago.  Surprise, surprise.

I had forgotten how well-made the shipping cartons were from years ago, until I started selling older items and shipped them in their original shipping boxes.  Comparing those from yesterday vs. today?  No comparison whatsoever!

Just another sign of corners being cut along the way.

Good point.

That would certainly add to the overall desire of a collector or even just a train enthusiast.

No doubt it may look or sound corny, but when you see people on various site selling just the empty box's well then.

Plus I always remember watching the antique road show where the person would say because you have the original box it worth even much more.  It lends itself to authentication.
