Lionel tmcc to protosounds

I have and old Chesapeake and Ohio #305 hudson locomotive from the mid-late 1990's built by lionel, my layout runs on DCS though. The engine is old enough to come from one of the early demo from lionel but it does not have the TMCC board installed. Would it be cheaper to convert to ps2 or to buy a tmcc command base and install the tmcc upgrade.

I think PS-2 upgrade would be cheaper if you do it yourself. By the time you get Legacy or older TMCC and the TMCC upgrade I think you would be more than a PS-2 kit. G
