I have that locomotive and it is a keeper.
Outstanding locomotive. One of my favorites. Looks, detail, sound, smoke, it has it all.
It's my showcase engine! Whenever I have guests over it's the one that I am operating on my layout. The next best thing compared to Lionel's 844 is the real thing which I'm very fortunate to be able to see nearly every summer at some point in time as it passes through my hometown. It's the best of both worlds.

I have always been a fan of the real 844. I have been with it a few times. It went on the UP the year I was born. Thanks to everyone past and present who have kept it alive.
UP has recently displayed this engine at the new home of the College Baseball World Series in Omaha. One of my favorites. Good luck on your search.
I have the Greyhound version for sale in the for sale forum?

But Marty that engine is older than 29 years?!
I have the 844, really cool sound, whistle, and great smoke. Love it, which reminds me I should take it out and take it for a few laps this weekend.
I have both the black and the grey Lionel with Legacy as the Old Milwaukee commercial would say, "it doesn't get any better then this".
