I have always liked the look of the all black Marx CP type loco, but they are not easy to come by, and prone to rust. I've had this one a while, but the restoration is now complete. Needed a repro smoke stack and marker lights. The motor has been swapped out with one with the correct style rods, but a newer, better, DR motor. I removed the boiler pipes & domes, lightly sanded the surface rust off, the sprayed it with Tamiya satin black. The domes were sprayed with gloss, then dull coat. This gives a slight contrast to the boiler. It is now a nice runner.

Nice looker.  I have a black 391 (0-4-2) that looks very much like yours does.  It was my 1st train, and I still run it, when it feels like going anyway.  I do have a question, where did you get the marker lights?  Mine are missing (Not even sure it had them when I got it.), and I'd love to put them in the holes.  And where could I get the sand pipe?  I'd have to look to see if there are holes for it, but if there are I'd love to add them.

Sharp!  I have a soft spot for the CP Jubilee type...either tinplate or otherwise.  I'd gladly jump for a Marx example.

While I don't think it could be modified, if a 4 wheel lead truck could be adapted then it'd have the correct Atlantic type wheel arrangement.  Those engines and the Milwaukee's Hiawatha were pretty much unique in that no other railroad used steamlined Atlantics.

Then go to the Steam Locomotives category. Part number 38 is for the plastic ones and 38A is for the metal. You then select your color over to the right. Part number 34 is the colored lens that goes up inside the boiler so the marker lights are colored. Part number 124 is new hand rails, but he does not have a listing for the sand dome pipes. You could send him an e-mail and see if he has any used ones.
