Menards Die Cast Automobile Bundle Update/Arrived

I so happen to have all of the Buick's removed from one of Menard's auto racks.  In checking the wheel base of one against the full-size specifications, I'd have to say the Buick models are spot-on for a true 1/48 scale.  I would guess the balance of brands in the 16 pack would be, also.

I probably won't be buying the 16-pack of cars, just too new for my modeled time frame.  But looking at enlarged pictures of them, they look really nice.  Which I don't doubt a bit, because the Buick's from my auto rack are actually quite nice, too.  And even without the 11% rebate, you're still only talking just a bit under $2.50 each............... really a good deal!!! 

Yes....I bought the case 3 years ago. The cars are really close to 1:48 scale. I had planned to use them around my passenger station. They are all of a fairly modern era design (post 2000). In the end, I did not use them as the detail of the cars is not up to par to match the rest of my scenery and diecast. The cars are what you would expect from a $2 to $3 a piece vehicle. Which is not bad, just not for me.

River City 3 Raiders bought 2 cases for our 12x15 layout. Half will go to the parking garage and the other to the rest of the layout. A great deal!

I would gladly  purchase a bag of 1:48 cars but only if they were of 1940's and 1950's era automobiles. If you run steam locomotives, modern era cars just don't fit in with those times.

Ordered it, final bill with shipping, processing fee and tax came to 54.74 which is 3.42 per car before rebate. Will post pictures when they arrive.

Anyone purchase the U.S. Army jeeps that are cargo on some of the Menard flat cars, but can be purchased separately?  

The cars arrived today.

• Four BMW cars (2 Red, 1 Black, 1 Dark Blue)
• Four Buick cars (2 Red, 1 White, 1 Black)
• Two Volkswagen cars (1 Blue, 1 Green)
• Two Nissan cars (1 Red, 1 Silver)
• Two Toyota cars (1 Red, 1 Black)
• Two Subaru cars (1 Yellow, 1 Blue)

Dimensions: 1:48 scale

Upon opening the BMW's, Volkswagons, Nissans and Toyotas are all stamped on the bottom 1:43 the Subaru and Buicks have no scale marking. These are basic cars (no opening doors). 

So the website appears to be incorrect but even at 1:43  is a good deal @3.42 (inc tax and shipping) per car before rebate. I already have a variety of 1:48, 1:43 and 1:50 vehicles on the layout. This will fit my budget as I need lots of vehicles for the 16x24 layout. I have been buying cars piecemeal over the last couple of years and have been paying $5 to $10 each. Now if they offered a truck/suv package that would be nice.

Right now, Menards is offering the 11% rebate on these cars and if I get my Menards Big Charge Card, I will be able to save 2% more on this deal.  Sincerely yours,    railbear601
