Happy Wednesday, boys and girls!  It is a bit late in the day, but here we are with another Midweek Photos thread to get you (hopefully) through to the weekend.

This past weekend took me to Palmer, MA for the 50th Annual Railroad Show in West Springfield, sponsored by the Amherst Railway Society.  Palmer is about 20-25 miles away from the Big E, but is home to this steam engine, no. 102.

102 sits in Palmer outside the Steaming Tender Restaurant, which was once a railroad station serving the Boston and Albany RR, part of the New York Central RR system.  I met up with a friend in Palmer for a late lunch before we headed to the Springfield area for rest.

The show is known for its model railroad displays and sales tables, but what really gets me moving is how many large scale, "real" trains are represented.  The above electric car is part of the Shelburne Trollery Museum display. Look how giant electric motors once were.

Narrow Gauge (2-foot) no. 11 was under steam for the show, and right in between three of the main halls for the show.  The Boothbay Railway Village in Maine brought this little engine for display, and she ran on occasion.

What a beauty!  Live steam in January; can you beat that?

This nifty track mobile was also on display.  I have been to 5 of these shows through the years, dating back to 2004.  But it is always better somehow.

More coming in another post.  Here is a reminder for you to add to this thread.  It doesn't need to be recent or even on a Wednesday.  We can post well into Tuesday on the thread. Enjoy.

"Real Railroading" covers anything that runs on the rails, so I took a photo of this Ford Bronco hi-railer outside the show buildings.

In West Springfield, the former NYC/Boston & Albany yard is now host to this shortline, the Connecticut Southern.  You might also find other railroad equipment here, too.

CSX is the dominant railroad in town now, but it recently put this route on the sale-block.  I came across the CSX Safety Train in the yard.  I have never encountered this train before, but I hear it is to train railroaders and rescue workers on the hazardous materials railroads carry, plus how to take care of yourself and other people when things go wrong.

I've been able to get out a little lately, and caught one of my favorite locomotives at Keyser, WVa.

Here's the loco that started a long line of GE AC locomotives at CSX, here doing just what she was built to do, hauling West Virginia coal!

She has the new paint, but it looks as if a turbo on a loco in front of her, sometime when she was operation in a consist, blew and oiled her front end pretty well. (that's just a guess).
