All they are doing is marketing products already available under the MTH name.

I’m still waiting for the lost generation of 60’s and 70‘s items.

The market is flooded with 30, 40, 50’s and modern vehicles, nothing in between.

MTH should have started with the former Athearn O vehicle line.

More gimmicks just like the weathering.

Kinda agree.......I have 1/43 die cast that are the exact same models.....so they are just importing and labeling them MTH. The old Athrean line OR a all new 1/48 scale line of cars and trucks would be GREAT!

Lionel and MTH don't make them. They source them from companies that make them for the die-cast car collector market. That market is well-established at 1:43, which is English 0 gauge. When the collector market was getting established, a lot of the manufacturers were in England. Basically nobody wants to rock the boat by making 1:48 cars that might or might not sell.

It's kind of unfortunate. 1:43 cars are about 10% oversize for American 0 gauge, and so they look out of proportion. They also won't fit on an Auto Loader, except for the smallest cars. K-Line used to make a near-scale Evans Auto Loader, but the only cars they could fill it with were Corvettes, 2-seater T-Birds, and Volkswagens. I got one with no cars and went nuts trying to find cars that would fit that were not '56 Vettes with the top down. Finally I filled it with French-made (Eligor) '62 Corvair coupes. Anachronistic, but at least they fit and looked right.

The Divco vans with a driver figure are available from Diecast Direct for around $35.00; without the driver about $30.00; and without driver and without graphics for $25.00. There are several graphics to choose from. I would think other dealers may also carry them.

I am glad MTH is going to offer them too. Perhaps they will get the manufacturer to produce other models beyond what is already available. I'd like to see if they will offer the "Hoods Milk" graphic again.
