Hi Guys! looking for some suggestions over a problem that has got me non-plussed. I'm running an MTH Imperial PS/2 Big Boy and on sounding the bell or whistle the loco slows down noticeably. There is no shortage of track power because it doesn't affect my Y6B or even my FEF no. 844 running with a full set of heavyweight lighted passenger cars! Any suggestions gratefully received...

You do not say how many amps you are pulling.  I have noticed when I speed up the consist, or turn on smoke, bell or horn the amps being used goes up.  If you are running at a high amp level, the whistle or horn might not be enough to trip the breaker; however, it might be sufficient that the transformer can not keep up with the amps.  My Lionel 180 bricks have no issue with a load of trains that trips my MTH 1000 bricks.

I have that PS2 Imperial Big Boy and what you report is not present on my engine or any other.   I run Z4K transformers and the results are the same with my ZW-L.  I would start by doing your test on another layout.   It seems like a locomotive issue.  Do you have an MTH Tech close by that can put your board in his board tester?
