Hi folks, Just picked up a new MTH Christmas tree flat car 30-76732 for the season.
Unfortunately while the Christmas trees light, the leds around the perimeter do not.
LHS where I got it is 1.5 hours away 
Anyone experience this and perhaps was able to repair them ?

So l took a chance last night and opened up the "box" in the middle of this car. All wires were intact so I check the voltage from the small board and it was 5 volts for the tress and perimeter lights. Hum, I then cut and stripped the 4 wires , 2 on each side for the lights. Those wires while small, are strong and coated. Had a 4.5 v battery pack and used it to find the culprit. Seemed, where the bare wire was soldered to the stranded wire before plugging into the board was the issue. Pulled the wires apart with ease. After I jumpered the wires, voila ! We now have lights.

Glad you were able to find the issue, Good find. How difficult was it to get the box open?
There's 2 pins beneath the box, front and back of the car looking at it sideways. Use a small screwdriver and pry it up gently.
