I have had DCS for over two years. A few times during that period I hit the Dopper button but never really understood how it worked and when to use it. Tonight I reread Barry's book about it and experimented a bit. It really works well and is great effect. I will definetly be using it more frequently.

I was wondering if anyone that has used it often can share any cool ways to use it.

Walt;

That is a very interesting use of the effect.

I've played with it a couple times but my layout has so much stuff piled around right now I don't really need it. The sound gets blocked by the  materials. Then again, right now I only have one mainline. Not a biggie if I can hear the train at the far end, it's just not as loud which is fine.

I have used it several times on our small layout. First you have to program the route by pressing the doppler program button at a specific point on the layout with the entine circleing where you want full sound, then let the engine come back to that exact spot and press the doppler programming button again. This measures the rout size. Now return to the regular speed menu page and press the doppler button once. The sound wil increase and decrease around the layout as you had programmed it.
