Why did MTH cancell the 2017 run of this remake

Didn't realize it was cancelled. I seem to recall seeing it at York in the MTH booth a couple of shows ago. But that never guarantees it'll see the light of day in production. The ETA was June 2017, so it's interesting to hear about the cancellation so late in the game. Perhaps MTH notified dealers, and I just missed it. But several forum sponsors still have the R-2 listed for "pre-order". 
So I guess they didn't get the memo either. 
Probably due to lack of orders, but I doubt we'll ever know the real reason. With all the challenges importers face getting stuff out of China these days, it's a wonder ANYTHING gets produced. 
If you're looking for a nice MTH Great Northern articulated steamer that's been made recently, I believe a few dealers are still showing availability of the Z-6 challenger. Otherwise, you'll need to hunt around for the PS 2 version of the R-2.

so when Peterson of Portland OR called me to tell me MTH informed him that the R-2 was canceled. I call Eastside trains an bought a green Z-6 . Which I just love.
