I recently purchased a used MTH Premier 4-6-2 K4 PRR (20-3126-1) from afellow board member.

I'm not faulting him a bit, my question is on the sound quality. When the loco powers up, the dynamo and backround

engine sounds drown out the steam chuff. The PSA, and whisle seem to be ok, also when voltage is increased the chuff gets very garbled almost static like. I have charged the batteries completely using a MTH wall charger as directed, also I ordered a new speaker from Madisound thinking that may be the problem, it should arrive soon. Is this the proper course of action or should it go to an MTH dealer instead?

Thank you,

Brian

Brian I don't have any experience with that particular loco.  However I have a few different PS2 locos built between 2000 and 2008.  If you have access to a DCS system, on most of them the volume of individual sound effects can be changed through the "Sound" menu.

You might also try posting your question in the MTH DCS Control System forum.  Good luck and enjoy your new engine.  -Ted
