Can some knowledgeable person confirm that PS1 boards are universal to all PS1 locomotives?  I'm looking to replace a PS1 board on a Premiere Class A articulated locomotive and I've seen some posts mentioning that the articulated engines had different boards than the ridged frame ones.  Can the broken board in my Class A be replaced with one from a 4-6-4 Hiawatha?  Is there a difference between Premiere and Rail King PS1 boards?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

GGG probably knows as much about the old PS/1 boards as anyone on the forum.  I'll tell you what little I know.

There have been several changes over the production run, so it's not universally true that you can swap sound chips and have them work in a different board.  There are also 2M and 4M chips, and a jumper to match on the top board.

Articulated locomotives would have a different sound chip, but I never heard that they were different boards.  I've done similar swaps without any problem, so it's not universally true, that's for sure.
