Here's some video with a look at the brand new Lionel "New Tooling" 200 series freight cars that appeared in the 2015 tinplate catalog and just released by MTH.

This is also a shameless and whole-hearted plug for JR Junction trains, forum members and sponsors and supporters here on the Tinplate forum, from whom I bought these cars. They have been endlessly helpful with new purchases, repair service, and finding parts for my projects... everything you need from a train store. I consider them my LHS, even though I've never been there - it would be about a 6 hour drive each way. Tom and Phil, thanks!

Due to restrictions on file size, I have split the video in two parts.  Here's Part 1...

...and then it finishes here:

thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting this video!  Great to see these new offerings from MTH.  I didn't pre-order anything from last years Standard Gauge catalog, but I can see a couple of those wheel cars and maybe a bay window caboose will make their way onto my roster this year.    Also will be keeping an eye out for the new 4010 tank cars in Shell and Gulf liveries.  That'll be it for me in the Standard Gauge department this year.

BTW, lovely Standard Gauge layout and trainroom too!

It sure is nice to see what is in all those brown boxes.

Phil, that's pretty funny.  It never occurred to me though, you get a lot in and ship a lot out, but it's all boxes.  Feel free to open any of my orders any time you want, call it "dealer inspection"!

I keep looking at the paint on these, and I can't figure out what they are doing.  It's really nice.  It looks like a very thick paint job, almost the way powder coating looks.  It looks like it flowed and filled any imperfections, the way a paint job would look if you put many multiple coats on, or maybe dipped like in the old days?   Also, the transitions between colors on one piece are perfect, better than anything you'd get by masking, I don't know how they are doing that. It's pretty impressive.
