I'm running a Lionel GG1 #4907 on a floor layout with an MTH Z-1000 transformer as my power source. When starting up the loco from a cool down, it wants full throttle to move it. There's wheel slippage and slowness until it circles the track a couple of times. When it warms up, it moves out really fast until I have to back it down a few pegs to keep from de-railing. It's pulling 9 cars. The diecast body is slightly warm after 30 minutes of track time.

When I switch the GG1 with my Lionel Santa Fe 2343 F3 AA units, it responds with whatever the throttle setting. It doesn't need a warm-up, she's ready to go at whatever the speed. After 30 minutes of track time, it's barely warm, cooler to the touch than the GG1.

Is it possible that the TMCC circuits in the GG1 does not care for the MTH power source? The postwar stuff doesn't care because there's only a simple e-unit to get in the way?
