MTH Z controllers

My Z controller will work with any size MTH brick (power source).

MTH describes the Z controller as being able to work with any power supply brick. (Click on the 'History' tab. Note the picture is incorrect, showing a power brick instead of the controller).

No they are not the same.

The z-500 & z-750 are 4 amp max.

The z-1000 AKA Z Controller is 6 amp max

So while a z-1000 can be used with any mth transformer brick. Using one of the 4 amp controllers with a z-1000 brick could damage the controller under a heavy strain. In other words while it could be fine operating an engine pulling freight cars, it may not be while pulling passenger cars and especially subways.

Apparently there are two of these. This is the one from the 2015 V1 catalog and states it's for the 500/750 bricks.

The one in the link posted above by TrainLarry does not seem to be listed in the current 2015 catalogs (V1 or R.T.R.), but is for the 1000 brick and is stated to work with the smaller 500/750 bricks as well.

So it does look like there are two of these from what I can find and they are not the same as subwayrunner posted above..

The higher amp controller is designed for the 100 watt brick.

Joe yes the z-controller will work with all three bricks 6 amp max. and the controller with the red light you can only use that brick size and the controller with green light works with all 3 bricks.
