Well, for what's coming next year for me, I had to get a train horn that sounds nice and loud and when people come over, they can blow it. It's a Nathan New Cast 3 Chime P3. I recorded the audio early this afternoon and it's about 500 feet away from the camera and so this is the way it sounds. In my opinion, this is the best train I've heard in person outside of an RS5T and K3L. This horn belonged to the Southern Railway. It was completely media blasted and new bolts. The horn bells may not have come from the Southern, but the low manifold did.

Boy, your neighbors must love that. Tstark

Well to be honest, in my neighborhood, there's a gentlemen who has a Raised Letter K5LA. Then on the corner of my road is an Amish guy with a K5LA. Then another east of me who has a P5. Other then that, there's been no complaints. And him on the corner has had it since 2011.

To moonman, yes a Leslie is great, but the maintenance is hard to keep up and they cost a lot more then a Nathan P Horn.As for New Years Eve, acctually I'm not that person that does that. I don't scare people with my horns. Also I like to blow them during the day when everyone is not around. Also I live out in the country with houses farther apart as it's not as loud.

Have you and your neighbors ever replied to each other's horn sounding?

Since 2011, I've only done that 3 times. As the Amish guy on my corner of my road, he blows the K5LA - 3 long's and 2 shorts to signal someone that he needs help. One time though back in July 2014 his horn got stuck for 10 minutes. My understanding is, he has between a 70 to 100 gallon tank.
