My Small room Big layout

Great Layout!!

That is a GREAT looking layout in small room !!  What's the room size may I ask ?

Wow, beautiful details and the walnut is a fantastic look.  Where did you get the wood. Are the shelves walnut as well?

The room is 10 foot by 12 foot.

I get all my wood from Houston Hardwoods. All of the walnut I bought ruff cut lumber, planed and used my jointer to smooth it out. After that I used my table saw to cut it to what ever size I need. I must add that using a dark walnut really adds realism to the layout, plus I do not have to stain or paint it.

All the shelves and cabinets are made of red oak with a dark walnut stain. I will post a few more pictures later today. 

Is that a lift bridge or a drop bridge that allows you access inside the layout?  BTW you are the man.  I am inspired by what I see here.

Awesome layout! And I do love all the dark Wood! Just out of curiosity, do you have actual rails on your shelves? It looks like routed O gauge grooves instead of actual tracks ☺

You are correct. I used a dado blade to cut out the tracks.

That is an excellent layout in all ways!

That's really making the most use of a small room and it looks great, very nicely done!! Interesting track plan as well.

What a beautiful layout. Seeing these photos really made my day - a top notch railroad IMO.

Great ideas. My train room is about that size (11'x11') but I only have a 5'x9' table plus ring around the top. Always looking for ideas!

I'm very interested in the drawbridge, particularly the rail joints. Can you share?

Here are some pictures of my Texas home layout. Please ignore the adult beverage on my desk. This have been years in the making and I am finally able to run all my engines. The inner loop is O 45 and the outer is O 72. All the bridges are made out of walnut custom made by me. I will post more as I near complete the rest of the layout.

Great use of space ... finishing touches (walnut, etc.) are fantastic.  Thanks for the pix.

I have similar room size, and track diameter requirements. My thoughts for track have long been limited to platform or around the room layouts, but you've shown how a combination of both can meet both needs with you beautiful track plan!

That is why I have a 25 mile per hour speed limit over the bridges.

Very nice work in a room not much larger than what I have available.  You, sir, are a craftsman.  Your use of the space is inspiring, and your gateway bridge is simple yet really cool!
