We decided not to sell our house so I am about to start another layout.  This one will be 9 x 34 and will be hi-rail.  The width is limited by the need to access the furnace and hot water heater.  The layout will be in the same room as my 12 x 28 prewar layout.  I am undecided on the second level.  Overall it is a big project and I am thinking in terms of many years to completion.  I am OK with the 0-63 curves.   The lower lop was largely copied from a published plan which I don't seem able to find right now.  My software lacked a complete set of Ross switches so I could not show a three way switch in the lower loop.  The big green area on the right represents track on the other side of an existing wall.  At some point I might even run a connection from there to the other layout. Any comment welcome

Hi Al,

The yard lead to the brown building at the bottom of the layout is only 2 grid blocks from the main line. Seems that you may have to foul the main if you are building a train longer than that. The inner loop looks like a nice run around.

That area may need some adjustments, dependent on your operations plans.

Nice combo of continuous and point-to-point operation.

Thanks for the comments.  At this point I am undecided about TMCC versus conventional control.  I am looking at eliminating the upper level and double tracking the lower level.  Attached is an early idea of what it might look like.  Brown is road, blue is commercial and residential, green is industrial and yellow is railroad buildings.  The outside loop would be elevated for part of the run
