One of the couplers on my powered Lionel Western Maryland F-7B kept popping open so I decided to replace it.  All was well until a few days ago when my son reported that it started buzzing continuously and was stuck open.  I took a close look, and it appeared that the plug where it obtains power from was loose, so I pushed it tightly into the socket with a small screwdriver.  This got rid of the buzzing, but the coupler is stuck open and I cannot force it closed, even if I try to do so while activating the coupler.

Anyone have any suggestions short of replacing it again?

Thanks

Not sure why the momentary power seems to be stuck-on?  The continual buzzing would indicate this.  Let go of the button on the handheld remote the buzzing should stop. Possible short to closed in the circuit.

If the couple can not be force closed/stuck in the open position, there is a good chance the coil has fried a lot like the Atlas switch motors.  The melted plastic coil inhibits the plunger from moving.  It may require a new coupler.
