Hi Guys, well Rick, was up at the workshops tonight and took some pics for you, there were many of the guys there tonight just a few and by the time I'd finished working at my models there was only Eric and Alan left working away. Erics the one in the white coat.  I was working on that French engine, stripping off the old couplers and the pantographs and handrails to get it ready for painting, and I was also dismantling an old 3 rail Williams Pacific Chassis and started to make changes to it toget it to 2 rail operation. Anyway ,heres a couple of pics for you of the wee workshop in Strathaven  .DAVY

So that's where you lads get down to business; does your club own the building and the land, it's on?

I wonder if you'll get around to building a unit for yerself, someday; besides

servicing and fabricating... into the wee hours of the night?

It looks like a cool hideout; thanks for giving me a look.

BTW, tell Eric and Alan I said hi.

Cheers,

Rick

Hi Guys, been painting up the BB9200 loco shell  into its new red "Capitole" livery. 1st picture shows it alongside another original 3 rail version. 2nd picture shows one of the real ones. 3rd picture shows another French electric I just bought  a BB13000 class . It needs refurbished and repaint, again it will be getting converted to 2 rail but instead of the blue coplourscheme it will be getting SNCF green with yellow warning panels as per the last photo which is a Jouef HO version.

Hi Guys,

Well ,been working away on those old French 3 rail electrics. I have done two of the BB9200s into the above red "capitole" livery and the BB 13000 centre cab has been repainted into the green though it still has its yellow and red warning panels to get done and the whole paint job flattened down a bit. Currently still 3 rail locos they will be converted to two rail as and when I can get my hands on the appropriate 2 rail motorising units. So far I've managed to obtain two. Anyway guys can't wait to get them two railed and running on the garden layout next year (fingers crossed ! ) Anyway guys ,hope you all haver a nice Christmas and New Year. All the best to all of you from Scotland      DAVY

Wow, nice to see a garden railway in O scale. I've always wanted to go O scale, I was looking at some locos yesterday at the LHS, but to be honest can't afford to.

I am going to have to spend some time reading about your layout.

I realize it's the wrong scale, but there is a group of modelers who do garden railways in OO/HO at this forum: http://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/

I am sure the guys would love it if you stopped by, we're not much for snobbery when it comes to scale. We just like our trains outdoors.

Hi there traingeek, are you in the UK ? I dabbled in HO in the garden at one point but wasn't happy with it so abandoned it. As for affordability,I think you might be surprised at what some Lima O gauge stuff goes for. Certainly no more expensive and a lot less expensive than many current OO/HO models. Though no longer made you can still pick up O gauge Rivarrossi, Lima, Pola Maxi, etc., 2 rail O gauge at reasonable prices on ebay. Mostly European outline. German ,Swiss,Italian ,French and various other stuff. Ebay UK, France,Germany and Italy are the main sources I use for european O gauge but it pays to keep an eye on American ebay too as some real great deals come up there from time to time. Keep in touch.  DAVY

I'm in the USA. I stumbled on jules garden railway video of OO trains running in the snow and was hooked on the idea of garden railways. I've since started collecting a little bit of british OO stuff, mostly older models by lima and such. It's the best part of garden railways, you get to run anything and everything.

I spent my early childhood in Italy so I am really into italian trains. I should qualify my can't afford it status. My idea of cheap is finding a loco for 50.00$ or a coach for 10.00.

I do look at all the O scale stuff on ebay. Sadly even the old atlas/ahm F9's go for a bit more than I want to spend these days. I've seen the rivarossi Tartarugas on ebay but never real cheap. Who knows though I always look and wait for things. I have a backyard just waiting for another railroad as the HO scale one is in the front yard.

love that le capitole. Should look wonderful with a rake of coaches behind it. one of the guys on Oo forum gifted me a diner, i expect I'll be looking for more red to make a train with.

Hi Traingeek ,Listen, as it so happens last week I saw a 2nd hand "Le Capitole" BB9200 loco in HO by Lima in a local model shop.I smiled at the co-incidence of it because I had been doing up my O gauge Capitole locos. I'm pretty sure it will still be there.

I am quite friendly with the guy that owns the shop so I can talk nice to him and see if I can get that loco for you real cheap. he has quite a lot of 2nd hand stuff both continental HO and British OO. Lima and Jouef made some models that were British outline but were HO 3.5mm to the foot. However most British outline manufacturers built to OO 4mm to the foot. Anyway, if you are after anything in particular I can help you obtain this side of the pond or from europe let me know.

Ask the editor here at the forum for my email address and we can talk direct. All the best  DAVY

Hmmm... this forum doesn't have messaging that I can find. How strange.

Let me know what he wants for his le capitol. Like I said I'm very cheap. Shipping is also an issue. I would buy things off of ebay.co.uk but usually it adds about 20.00$ to the price.

My lima's seem to scale up well near my Brit OO, but my jouef is all wrong.

Hi Drew, Thanks for the thumbs up, glad you like it. Nothing doing on the garden at the moment but I have been working on another old French Meccano Hornby 3 rail SNCF BB9200 class electric locomotive. These locos were originally in a blueish/green colourscheme but had various liveries applied over the years. I already did two up in the Red and white "Le Capitole" colourscheme. Now I've done this other BB9200 up in what they called the "Corail" livery. I'm in the process of collecting 2 rail motor trucks to replace the old original 3 rail ones. Pics attached.1st picture ,real thing original livery, 2nd picture real thing in Corail livery, last picture ,my newly repainted body shell. I've also just won this German E44 electric locomotive on ebay by Pola-Maxi.(last picture) Its 2 rail O gauge,so no converting or repainting required this time round. never even knew that O gauge models of these locos had been made in O gauge so I was very pleased to win it. I now have a decent selection of French ,German and Italian electric and diesel locos and a few german steam locos for the european section of my garden layout which I hope to get on with come the spring.   DAVY

Here is an (incomplete) overview what was produced under the Pola Maxi/Biller Bahn/Rai-mo label (I hope the pictures speak for themselves):

http://1zu45.wordpress.com/201...r-gibt-teil-1-raimo/

Is the E44 you bought  motorised? I've bought one recently but the motors used in it were rubbish. While taking out the motors the axles and gears just about disintegrated, so my model is still lacking some essential parts.

Hi Michiel,

Well, i can only go by the sellers description. I don't have the loco yet ,its in transit from Germany. However its apparently in good condition and is a runner. So we'll see when it gets here. Fingers crossed !. I have a pola-maxi T3 0-6-0 tank steam model and no it isn't the greatest locomotive I've seen mechanically by a long shot but it goes OK.

As for the Corail unit Griffith,  aye I quite like it myself. Its one of the few colour schemes applied to the BB9200 class over the years that doesn't require the removal of the original embossed SNCF nose roundels and cats whiskers and embossed numerals on the body sides.    DAVY
