I just ran into an old problem. I'm working on my G gauge fleet and went to call up an engine. I couldn't find it? I just ran it last week.

I was going to find out the address using the loader when it hit me. I bought a new remote. It came right up under address #41. So I grabbed my old G scale remote and looked for address #41. It is gone.

So, I mean, no big deal. I had problems with this remote and that's why I bought a new one to see what was happening. This points to problems within the remote. I still need to find more evidence to prove it. It's not the first time this has happened. I shouldn't be surprised when this has happened before right? I tried to reload the engine but the remote just keeps stalling.

So I'm thinking that it would be nice to have some idea what is happening with these lost engine slots. Barry has told us that they can be filled with garbage when the remote won't fill a slot but what about this one?

Will the new tablet control allow more info? Will there be some way to look at these slots to see what's in them? I imagine it will just work the same way. It would be nice if even just the repair guys could see what's actually happening.

I will have to reset this remote and gain back the three or four slots it has lost over time. First I'd better put in that new thumbwheel I bought as a spare. Maybe just retire this remote for the amount of grief it causes me. I believe that it's the reason a few engines got scrambled while building consists last year. But what do I know?? I'm just an end user.
