Agreed.  I don't know about you guys and gals, but I'm pretty much tapped out this year!!!    And I didn't even pre-order a Big Boy over in O-Gauge land.

The Ives flyer had very nice passenger sets, but they also carried a $400 premium (as I recall when I did the comparison) over sets that were issued approximately 5 years ago. But I pre-ordered the Ives National Limited anyway .  Shame on me, I admit.  But I wasn't into Standard Gauge back in 2009, and that set really called my name.  I was actually looking for it on the secondary market when bang... there it was in the 2014 flyer.

So I figure if I dollar-cost-average the $400 price premium on the 2014 re-issue against all the great Standard Gauge items I grabbed on super-sale at Sidetrack Hobbies this year, all is well in the end... and I'm still coming out ahead (for now).

So if we don't see another tinplate catalog until Spring 2015, that's fine by me (and my wallet).

AS a previous avid collector of tinplate (1965-2000) I must say that when I saw their most recent catalog which came in the mail a couple of months ago, all I could say was WOW!

It contained just about every desirable piece I once had or wanted in just one catalog!

I still own a few O passenger sets, original and MTH. MTH tinplate is just awesome for those out there that have not been around this stuff a long time.

AND.... not expensive by either current or past standards.
