After a few minor wiring issues were fixed, I loaded the layout similar to what it should look like when on display and ran trains for about 3 hours with no problems. Took some pictures and a video will follow. Time to box up the accessories and deliver the platform to the library for them to store till November. The very tolerant wife will be happy to get her parking spot back.

Steve,
You can borrow my Nikon d7100 for the shots or I can assist if you like.

Steve, that is one very nice layout. I agree with the OGR editor, you should do an article for the magazine, just to show there is more than Lionel, tho there is nothing wrong with that. For you to share your Marx sets, and the buildings with the accessories is very public spirited of you, and might even make a few people get back into trains, when they see the fun that can be had. Maybe the Library will use the local TV networks to showcase the train layouts there.

Thanks Luke
In the past, they have used the local media and had the displays on TV. I assume they will again.

Hope you can be there to meet us.  You're more interesting than the trains.....well, a little more.

Steve, what a great looking layout.  I never gave Marx much attention until I started seeing your stuff.  It is truly what toy trains are all about.  I had one when I was 3 and kept it until I was grown although I continued to loose some of it along the way.  The layout brings back all that magic from my childhood memories.  Thanks a bunch.

Steve:

Just watched the video.  You did a great job.  Nice layout and imagination.

So will you be recruited to go to the library and set it up and then 'check' on it periodically to make sure it is still working properly?  And, since it appears it will be mated with some other persons' work similar to yours, how do you know you will get back exactly what you took there?

Thanks.

Yes, I will be in and out swapping loco's and rolling stock around so as not to overly wear things out. It is actually quite a bit of fun to hang around and talk to the visitors. We will have one night a week, probably Tuesday,  were we go in after hours and do service of everything.

There will be six independent 5x8 layouts. Mine is the only one with primarily O gauge tin so it won't be an issue.

A tin Marx themed O gauge layout (mine)

A bit of a modern concession for the younger kids, a G gauge Thomas theme.

A standard gauge layout.

A S gauge layout.

A replica of the Lionel Disappearing Train layout.

A post war themed O gauge layout.

A nice variety I think.
