I know that the original Lionel tubular 031 curved track was not measured in the conventional way from center rails, however I do not remember the actual dimensions. I have put together a couple of sample circles and come up with about 28.5 inches center to center and about 30.5 from outside of track clips. Does anyone know the exact dimensions?  Also, does MTH 031 match up with the Lionel 031. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Not to be, well, a smart a**, but if you have the actual, physical track assembled, and have properly measured it, I would think that you know better than anyone else the

"actual dimensions". There they are, not subject to opinion or "authority".

I presume that the track "clips" that you mention are the metal ties, and I believe that

30.5" is pretty much "31" by the standards of tinplate. I think that JLC measured from

the outside, as he was trying to let the customer know how tidy a space into which

his compact O-gauge equipment's track would fit.

My 031 track is old and beat up, therefore was not able to obtain a good fit between pieces. I need to make sure that If I design a bridge for a customer that it is as close to the proper dimensions as possible.
