Nothing ground shaking about our visit to the Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass WV.....after all we are local to the State Park  and visit when we have company visit. The difference this year was it was the first time we took our 3 year old grand daughter for a ride. She does like trains, has Brio trains at home, loves to see real trains around her home near Charleston. She can spot cars and tell me their names. (hopper, box etc) We felt the little over 2 hour ride to Whitiaker was within her range of attention now. We had perfect weather for our trip, cool and clear. The train was full but not packed as it can get at times during the summer. Our grand daughter enjoyed the trip. And even though see rode Amtrak to get to our house it was her firs steam trip in open cars....much different than Amtrak!

Now to keep this from being to cutesy the trip was good for me too. I've ridden the Cass train either to Whitaker , Spruce or Bald Knob 50 to 60 times. You tend to get a bit jaded when the nations largest collection of operating steam locos is your neighbor. You tend to forget how lucky you are to have THREE different rail attractions within an hour of home. So this visit kinda reminded me of how cool all these steam locos are. A great day for all.........

And like I said.....she likes the modern stuff too......When they are at home and go fro an evening walk....it's often down to the CSX crossing near their home.

And if you'll notice on this day....the CSX units matched the two WbB Dash-9's I custom painted last month!!! Now you see why! THX
