What does it need?
A good place to find the parts and part numbers is on the Olsen's Toy Train Parts website. Go to the site, and click on the "LIBRARY TAB", enter into the Library function, and it will give you a whole list to choose from. Scroll down to the "PREWAR O LOCOS, then scroll down to the 229 locomotive. It shows the parts that he would be missing. Once you have the part numbers, you can check different suppliers of you choice, for the best price, or just order from Olsen's website. It is a great resource for find part numbers.
There are 2 versions of the 229. be sure to specify the early (sheet metal motor) version of rods. They are not interchangeable.
After giving your pictures a second look, parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 all come as an assembly.
RH 726 valve gear is what you want. You don't need the specific main rod as you have it.
