I would imagine there will be someone that will want it. No idea what the value might be?
Well, you'll want the 10th anniversary edition of the LionChief with the extra announcements. It also has the handrail detail on the engine, like the 6-31960.
I see the 6-31960 sets sell at $160-$195 on Craig's List. Mario's just had a special on them. I think Ro did also.
Dont'cha mean whistle, and not a horn?
You could always pony up a little extra dough and buy the PE Trainsounds tender that was offered for separate sale. It includes steam chuffing, steam whistle, bell, squealing brakes, and operator-controlled crew dialog.

Don't bother and waste your $$. A forum search on the PE Trainsounds tender says you are better off going to ERR and purchasing the Railsounds steam stand alone sund board and installing it in the set tender than wasting the $$ purchasing the additional tender with an inferior steam sound.
Lance, understand there are two different LionChief rtr sets available right now. The 10th anniversary edition has the extra sounds and detail, which the previous LionChief set that came out last year did not.
Its confusing how many PE sets are out there...I see them at various train shops and don't know which is which, except the one with a remote shown in the box window is a clue to me it's more recent issue. And, to make matters worse, there's some who will charge a lot of money for the older sets, especially this time of year, which is unfortunate by itself, when they can be had for much less if one takes the time to research. The average family will see a PE set and automatically think it's the latest and greatest, but as you found out, it very well may not be.
I don't know, Lance.
I saw a traditional PE engine and tender for sale by themselves at my local hobby shop, it's the one with the steam whistle effect, but I don't think it works by the remote system.
