I thought for those of us playing with the new V 1.3 we could keep all of our discoveries here in one thread.

In the speed settings mode you can now toggle the chuff intensity up or down. You know longer need the train brake to achieve this. It has no affect on braking or speed, it is all in the sounds.

I have clearly improved range with this upgrade. I am controlling trains from my office which I could not do before

Good idea Greg.

Engine que is one I have been asking for since day 1. I can now be operating 2 or more engines, command one to stop, and immediately switch to other engines and the first engine continues to slow to a stop with all the labor and breaking effects too. This is extremely helpful when using high momentum settings.

I played with this for quite a while.

Trainlink is awesome to. Instant access to any operating, sound, or individual engine built into a train. You can access quickly station sounds, lighting, or horns on the other TMCC/Legacy equipped engines or operating cars built into that train. Nice!

Icons for the crane car, Acela, freight cars, and more. I can now get all the sounds on my station car to easily engage thanks to the new icon legend.
Under programming manual menu- lists--Break down unit-Accessories- Crane car- legacy freight car - legacy passenger car sound - Acela - Legacy Pullmor Steam-Legacy pullmor diesel- subway. Interesting, just got home from york will experiment more tommorrow.
Not sure if this was all there before . Guess i m studying it alot more now . Also Icons for vision cattle car and Greatly increased range.

Wish we would have had time to test on our modular layout but just wasnt enough time.

Wish we could do something to fix this, however it is not in Legacy operating system. The SC2 cannot take the commands any quicker.

Individual switch commands ALWAYS work but I can't get 100% route switching success every time, no matter what delay I put in the routes. The best appoach is to put in redundant commands and use 1 second (or less) so you still have time to issue the route command a couple of more times, if necessary, before the train gets to the switch location. The real annoyance is that the switching problem happens on CAB-2 playback also, and is not just limited to routes. Sometimes individual switch commands do not get through on the playback. You can't leave the CAB-2 playback unattended.

I want to add to my layout but haven't bought any new switches in over a year, waiting for the new Command Fastrack switches that don't need an SC-2. Shipping schedule says Sept. I hope these will fix the problem.
Just to be safe I put fresh Lithium rechargeable batteries in my two CAB-2's and then installed V1.3 in the Legacy base and the CAB-2's.

The installations were a snap and went as instructed.

I had my Legacy Big Boy selected before doing the installs. It was right there on both CAB-2's as before after the installs but now with V1.3 on the top screen.

My top priority was to see if the range problem is fixed. So, I did a quick and dirty range test.

I used to get Radio Link Warning Lights several places in my 32 X 17 train room. And when I left the room usually completely lost the wireless connection.

With V1.3 I get NO RLWL lights in the trainroom and no dropouts whatsoever!!!!

Also, the range outside the train room is much improved!!! And when I did go out of range (in the adjacent garage or out in the yard) the RLWL now seems to correllate with an out of range condition.

This was with my Hawking high gain antenna still connected as I have my Legacy Base sort of hidden away with other control components --and my Expansion Base in storage -- since I no longer use the Base charging function and cradles.

Thanks a bunch, JonZ, MikeR and teams.

I checked my M1B loco today with the Appropriate Loco module. The Doghouse ICONS were there, and controlled my Doghouse light perfectly. I also saw the Tender marker was missing the OFF ICON, and as such I could not do much with this feature. The V1.3 code is released, but I will look into the options to see if this can be corrected.

Until the release of 1.3 I never created a lashup. I tried it the other day with my FEF and my M1-B. The sounds come from the lead engine, not sure where they came from prior to V1.3 so maybe this post is in vain.
The way I read it, the sounds being in the lead engine are written the same in both manuals, V1.2 and V1.3 at the beginning of the Lashups section.
However in V1.3, the (different from V1.2) step by step lashup procedure states that you have an option to enable/disable sound, announcements, and TRAIN LINK options for each engine.
It seems that the confusion stems from including the original sentence from the V1.2 manual in the new manual. OR it implies that if you did not select those options for each engine in 1.3 Legacy, the first engine would be automatically selected. I would guess the latter. I guess someone could try it.
Hi Marty et al,

Thanks for the tips on new features.

Unfortunately, I'm hard at work on layout mainline track modifications. Started the mods before I knew that V1.3 was available.

The timing sucks. Would rather be playing with V1.3.

Will resume the V1.3 testing fun in a couple of days once the mainlines are operational and my passenger and freight customers are happy!!

Will be following the forum to make a list of things to try out.

Life is good.

Keep them cards and letters coming!

Chuck is correct. Most, not all, Legacy locos will allow "Sound Masking". The user can select the loco to "play" the warning the dialog sounds. Until now, only the lead loco would play warning or dialog sounds.

For example, if you have a "Super Roar" loco behind a powered loco; one may choose to have the horn/bell emanate from the "super roar" unit; simply build the train with the "super roar" loco having the warning sounds. To do this in the Train Builder, select the "super roar" loco, press the "horn" icon in the touch pad and the display icon above "lead" loco will move to the "super roar" loco.

You can also move the dialog; but personally I believe this is less useful a feature, as dialog should be from the lead loco. My design team explained to me the value is apparent in "Hybrid" situations. For example, a lead PW loco without sounds, and a PWC super roar "B" unit. In this case you can move the entire sound set operation to the "B" unit.

Experiment, the results can be quite interesting.
Gentlemen

I can't tell you how much the engine que is BIG. I have been running 3 Legacy engines, speeding them up, switching slowing others down. All engine continue to their target speeds.

The trainlink function is pretty nice. Easily accessing other TMCC units in a train is pretty cool.

Over all though to me the que is the biggie.
The 1.3 was distributed to the attendees of the Legacy User's Group meeting at York. As far as I know we are one of the first folks to receive it.

Since Jon Z from Lionel has stated we received the production copy, I imagine those that registered will be receiving their copies shortly although no time table was announced.

As long as you are registered you will get a set of modules in the mail.

Problem is the Tender marker light off Icon is not there. The dog houses light on/off Icons are there and they do not work. I reloaded V1.3 again and also loaded eng module. Still missing Icon. Has any body else seen this problem? Could the tac sensor in tender be the problem?
Thanks Bob

I bet that will be like the ground lights on my sd70ace, they go on and off with the aux 2 button but no icon to say so. my sp gs4 did get a new icon for the air horn that just shows when on that loco and that was in the orange chip that came with the engine.
MartyE and everyone else that is involved in this discussion, THANK YOU!! From what I am hearing, the 1.3 up-date is a really big help. It appears to me that it addressed the signal problem, mostly eliminates signal loss, and has added features that will be more helpful and fun to play with while running our trains. I guess you could say the 1.3 upgrade makes is un-necessary for the string of signal towers that I asked about before the York meet. Also, if registered its going to come automatically, Fine.
Now in doing routes, it seems there might be a minor problem with using the Lionel SC2, is there a problem if we use ASC's, as this is what I use. I have never done routes, however I have my Cab 2 set up for quick response to throwing turnout points. Just Curious. I will be glad to get the upgrade. Thanks, Larry Levin
I loaded 1.3 into the NJHirailers layout. All went well. I walked around the whole 185' layout blowing the horn. The red light came on once or twice which is a big improvement. I charged all 4 cab-2's plus my own. When I took my cab 2 off the charger I turned it on an it could not find the base. The other 4 cabs could not find the base. I had to turn off the base and turn it back on and all the cab 2's could find the base. This happened in the past but I had to try several times of turning the base on and off to get the cab-2's to read the base. This is a big improvement. We are using the Hawking antenna. Maybe it's just a bad base or the building. I could change the base. We have 2 more but I don't want to program 95 engines into another base.Jon we need more numbers.

SOOOOOOOO..... can i buy it now? LOL Or should i wait till units pre installed with 1.3 hit dealers?

Buy it now, register and get the 1.3 sent to you, it took me about two minutes to install

Besides 1.2 isn't to bad that its unusable, in fact it worked quite well for me. I could roam my basement and not lose communications except when I was 40 feet was, separated by 2 walls and turned my back to the base. You may find 1.2 works just fine for you
