I'm running the layout with a TPC 300.

This allows me to run both modern and postwar using the Legacy Remote to change from conventional to command voltage.

I park the command units on non-powered sidings when operating postwar.

However, I cannot get the postwar tender whistles to work using the Legacy whistle lever in conventional.

Once in a while I get a little sound but not reliably.

Might there be anything I could do to fix this issue?

Thank You

Try the whistle with the loco in neutral at normal track voltage. In other words, run the train, hit the direction button, then try the whistle.

Sometimes the locos run so smoothly that the track voltage is too low for the whistle to activate.

Remember that when we were kids, nothing less than full blast would do.

  1. I am part of a modular group that uses 2 TPC 300s. I have noticed that some of my postwar whistles that work fine at home on post war transformers or DCS don't work well or at all on the layout with the TPCs. If I switch the layout power to a postwar ZW, the whistles work great, so I suspect it has something to do with the signal out of the TPC.

Yes, I suspect also that whatever signal is produced by the TPC does not have enough..."umph" to blow the postwar whistles.

My postwar is in very good running order and the whistles will blow with a postwar transformer very nicely.

Just thought that some of our more learned electronic gurus on this forum might have conjured up a solution!!!

Thanks All
