You're saying that you have full command control but just no movement? (sounds, lights, etc.)

Most likely a tether solder issue would be my guess.

It'll start up but that's it, no functions after that. It runs fine in conventional mode so that leads me to believe it isn't the tether but I'll double check it either way.

I'd suggest reloading the sound file if all else fails.  Amazing as it seems, that sometimes fixes strange behavior.

Hi did you try a feature reset and then a factory reset and then add engine in remote I personally have run into the situation a few times and worked fine after! Alan

Thanks for the replies, guys. I did a reset feature and factory reset but no difference. I also double checked the tether and that's fine too. Once I find the ac adapter to my old Toshiba I'll try downloading and reloading the mth sound files.

Until then I noticed that I can view the loco's info on the DCS remote BEFORE I start up the engine. AFTER I start up the engine all it says is engine not found. It seems to me like it's losing connection with the TIU after startup.

I haven't got any answers here. It just sounds weird. I wonder if that BCR or the circuit board might not be running at full bore?

Trying a sound set reload at your end might help. After that someone needs to test your board. Unless you have a test jig?

Are there any caps on the motor windings?

Are you driving something else on the board outputs like a Ram light board?

Do your other MTH engines operate correctly?

How strong is your DCS signal?

It shouldn't lose connection just because you pressed start up. I have had a bad BCR. I had a board that refused to run with a BCR yet the BCR ran fine in a different engine. That board ran fine with a new battery.

I am not a tech. I have a large number of engines and a good amount I've upgraded myself.

BTW, what version of DCS is in both you DCS components? TIU? Remote?

Old DCS versions had bugs in them.

I think you have a board problem of some type  Do you know what amps it is drawing.  If the PS is damaged it might draw down voltage enough that it can't communicate DCS, but weird other functions work.  The board can be tested and possibly repaired depending.

Very odd symptoms you have if accurately reported for a PS-2 3V board.  G
