Sad day! The Christmas layout comes down! Sad because right now it is my only layout! My time of the year to play trains. Goes by fast but good memories of sharing with my grandchildren and a chance to use and practice skills and techniques I've learned on this forum. Makes me excited that given the opportunity some day this is something I can do and do reasonably well! Good to know that there is a great group of people as a support group! Thanks guys, you give me confidence to try things!

I agree, it is a sad day when the Christmas layout comes down. It gives so much pleasure and becomes part of our Christmas tradition. There is hope and optimism. Christmas, 2015 is only 11 1/2 months away.

We also dismantled our Christmas layout this week. But we are well on our way planning for the next one.

Mine came down this past weekend before going back to work on Monday.  It took me almost 2 half days, 10 hours each day, to box everything up and get it into storage.  I am usually very grumpy when I have to take it down…so my family keeps somewhat distant from me on those days!  My back tends to hurt after a while in lifting boxes and bending down in picking stuff up.  However, my daughter was kind enough to help me on taking some of it down and tolerated my grumpiness!   She likes to put all the village people away and take down the tree with me, but everything else I do myself.    It is always fun time year with my Christmas Layout, but now I must focus on other things!  Ken

Mine is still up. We have some friends coming over to see it and then the plan was Sunday, we would start taking it down.

Today there was a rumor, my Great Aunt wants it left up, until my cousin comes to visit..... Of course the rumor came to me through my Mother-in-law. My wife just got home from work.... I'm scared to ask!

Now, I'm just being mean and bragging. The Christmas bit go away, but I can leave the trains up til Feb! Which means slowly leaning and lubing everything in prep for next yr! And running some stuff that didn't make the Christmas Layout!

Mine is still up. I'm still tweaking it a bit. I want to try to shoot 1 more video, been giving it a lot of thought so maybe it won't look like a drunks view of the display. Of course mine is out in the garage so it's in no ones way, and I guess I could leave it up all year. I do intend to leave it up for awhile though. I'm still really liking looking at it and watching the trains and trees...................
