Does anyone know what type of "string" Lionel used for the boom hook on the 6828 P&H crane truck?  I'm assuming it's some type of nylon, thicker than sewing thread but thinner than the average yarn sting.  Maybe kite string is closest equivalent?

I've got an original that doesn't have the original string, temporariliy using a thinner yarn for it in the meantime until I can find an original or reproduction that looks like the original; I don't think they used black string on the originals, some kind of silver-sh color, am I correct?

Thanks Bruce & Johnsgg1, I'll check the sporting goods store (kind of makes sense if you think about the cloth type fishing line, due to Lionel's connection with Airex).  Might also check different types of tubular thread like those that can be used to hang pictures instead of chains & hooks.   I'll also see if I can contact Chuck S, Henning's or one of the other parts guys and see what they can come up with/recommend.
