Question about prototype for our exclusive custom CONRAIL SD50 #6783 & #6788 diesel locomotives

QUESTION:  Was the front hood top painted black ONLY locomotives in "CONRAIL QUALITY" paint scheme?  We cannot find any photographic evidence otherwise.

Our models will be produced as shown above, but later in life when ditch lights were added.

When I worked for the PennCentral and latter CONRAIL  the black paint started only with CONRAIL Quality latter other shops did it in the system. But it was only a few as it took more time for additional work and the mantra was(is) get it in get it out……..your making no money “in”

Actually the lights could be up or down, it depended on the shop/mechanic/parts available at the time.

Thank you!  You confirmed our findings.  Our models will not have the black hood and neither will MTH's stock run of the SD50.  Thanks again for your input.

Our models will have ditch lights mounted on the front below hand railings as per prototype.  Our road numbered diesels did get the ditch lights installed later.

Will it be made with red front facing markers and a cab mounted RS3L as well?

Are they allowing you to record a sound file, particularly the PFA?

Yes, our models will have red front and rear facing markers.  The cab mounted horns will be as close to RS3L we can get.  As much as we would've liked, we're not producing a custom sound file for this locomotive like we did for our New York Central "Jubilee" J1c Hudson.  Thanks!  As always, we welcome suggestions from our customers to make our custom run models the very best in prototypical accuracy possible.

We don't have them listed on our website until the artwork is completed and a few other things are done.  Just send us an e-mail at sales@jrjunction.com with your name, contact and shipping information.  We will contact you when they ship and complete your pre-order at that time.  Please indicate the road number (product number too) of the unit you want.  If you order both numbers, you will get a small discount.  Thank you!

I am sure you are aware of this: Early Conrail SD50s rode on Flexicoil trucks

Later Conrail SD50s rode on HT-C trucks

Also, the numbers that you are planning to produce had larger 4,500 gallon fuel tanks
